Converge ICT beats PLDT
According to the December 2020 Netflix Internet Service Provider (ISP) Speed Index, the company emerged as the best internet provider.
Converge has been topping the Philippine ISP leaderboard for the last six months.
Our showing in the latest Netflix ISP Speed Index illustrates our commitment to continue providing fast and affordable internet to our subscribers, Converge Chief Operating Officer Jesus Romero, was quoted as saying in a statement.
With Netflix's thousands of movies and shows, the streaming service giant recommends a minimum of 25 megabits per second (Mbps) for 4K video.
The changes we have felt arising from the pandemic has led many to explore their options for at-home entertainment, and we are pleased to see that Converge’s pure fiber internet has allowed its subscribers to enjoy the very best of online streaming platform Netflix, uninterrupted and in the highest possible quality, Romero added.
Converge claimed it could support this requirement with its recent permanent free speed upgrades where its entry-level PHP 1,500 plan is now at 35 Mbps from the previous 25 Mbps.
Converge in December introduced free speed upgrades of up to 300 Mbps for its subscribers.
Update: Our previous post said that Converge was able to beat Globe and PLDT. But after double-checking with Netflix, we discovered that Converge and Globe are tied for the number 1 spot last January with 3.2 Mbps.
