Alienware launches first AMD-powered laptop in over 10 years

Dell announced that an Alienware laptop will be powered by AMD Ryzen processors. It is the first AMD-powered laptop from the brand in over a decade.

2007 was the last year that Alienware came out with a laptop with AMD in its core. The laptop was called the Aurora mALX. Now, 14 years later, the Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 and Dell G15 Ryzen Edition are fitted with AMD Ryzen processors along with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series mobile GPUs.

First, the Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 is a 15-inch gaming notebook with either a 240Hz QHD or 360Hz FHD display panel. It also features a new gaming feature called Dark Core that darkens the laptop's interior shade to minimize distractions and keep your head in the game.

Inside, it has up to AMD Ryzen 5000-H series mobile processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series laptop GPU, and expandable 3200MHz DDR4 RAM. It also has an ultra-low-profile mechanical keyboard co-developed with Cheery MX for tactile typing and per-key RGB lighting.

Next up, the Dell G15 Ryzen Edition is also a 15-inch gaming laptop with up display hardware ranging from 120Hz, 165Hz, and up to 360Hz. Inside, it has up to an AMD Ryzen 5000-series processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series laptop GPUs, and expandable 3200MHz DDR4 memory.

It also has a Game Shift feature. This is a functional key unique to G-series which instantly boosts cooling to maintain high-level performance for intense gaming sessions.

The Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition will be available in the US starting April 20. The Dell G15 Ryzen Edition and Intel Edition will be available in the US starting May 4 and April 13 respectively.

Local pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed though.
