Ookla: Globe has the fastest download speeds in 10 out of 17 regions in PH (Q1 2021)

Independent global leader in internet testing and analysis Ookla has just claimed that Globe has the fastest download speeds in 10 out of 17 regions in the Philippines for Q1 2021.

Ookla shared that the local telco giant has bested its rivals to have the fastest mobile download speed in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Bicol, Cagayan Valley, Caraga, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Eastern Visayas, Ilocos Region, Northern Mindanao, Region XII, and Zamboanga with median mobile download speeds of at least 5.76 Mbps to 9.08 Mbps.

Globe said that this is a reflection of the company's rigorous network upgrades to provide customers with a better mobile data experience.

The company added that the continuous improvements in mobile download speeds may be attributed to the telco’s steady investments in network upgrades and infrastructure development.

To date,  about 90 percent of Globe's cell towers are now equipped with 4G LTE technology for faster mobile data speeds.

Meanwhile, the entire Philippines enjoyed a 29.2 percent improvement in download speed in Q1 2021 at 24.72 Mbps versus the 19.13 Mbps in Q4 2020.
