China's market leader for March!

The fight for the crown in the Chinese market has become interesting as the top spot had series of changes over a short period of time.

Based on Counterpoint's report vivo was able to move ahead of OPPO during week 11 and again in week 13, this is because of its continuous outstanding performance of their newly released budget models Y3 and S9.

Looking at the line graph vivo got 24 percent of the market share, while OPPO had 21 percent, and lastly 15 percent for Huawei.

As of the moment, vivo is the market leader with the introduction of 5G handsets, which helps its strategy at a time when the majority of Chinese consumers are searching for devices that support the latest network standard. Additionally, Counterpoint Research claims that vivo is employing a successful game plan using their sub-brand iQOO in online platforms.

But, the fight for the top spot in 2021 is far from over, and vivo has a gap of only 3 percent from OPPO which will result in a tight battle for the crown as they unveil new smartphones.

OPPO too had been aggressive early this year which made them the market leader in previous months having successful rebranding of the Reno lineup and maintains impressive momentum of the A series in the mid-segment.

As obvious as it is, the other top Chinese brands took advantage of the slowdowns of Huawei due to US restrictions. Senior Analyst on market dynamics, Yang Wang said that "both vivo and OPPO are garnering aggressive market share and product strategies, and we expect to see the two brands continue to wrestle for the top spot this year"
