Comelec launches mobile app
Launching a mobile app will make voter registration more accessible, Comelec commissioner Marlon Cascuejo.
The app will be initially rolled out in Tagum City, Davao Del Norte.
According to Cascuejo, the introduction of the mobile app was "very timely" amid the coronavirus pandemic when almost everything is done online. The app, he said, will allow Filipinos to accomplish the form.
This will save time, effort, and money that will be otherwise spent on going to a computer shop to download and print the form, or getting the form at the local Comelec to fill it out manually, Cascuejo said.
Once installed, the official noted Filipinos can use the app even offline to input their personal information. After completing the form, tap the "generate QR code button" and save the QR code to your phone gallery.
The voter then has to proceed to Comelec offices, Cascuejo said.
A QR Code is generated upon successful accomplishment of the form. You must save the QR code on your smartphone then afterwards, you may visit your Comelec office to have your QR code scanned and biometrics taken, Cascuejo said.
