Three-way tie: PLDT, Globe, and Converge top Netflix ISP Speed Index for May

Three winners in May's Netflix ISP Speed Index

This marked Globe Telecom's fourth time securing the spot. The Ayala-led telco and Converge also shared the top rank in February and April.

Given Netflix's thousands of movies and shows, the streaming service giant recommends a minimum of 25 megabits per second (Mbps) for 4K videos.

With three telco players winning Netflix's internet speed index, this only proves that the internet connectivity of the Philippines has greatly improved.

Just this week, Ookla Speedtest Global Index Report showed that the Filipinos witnessed faster internet speed in May.

In its May 2021 report, Ookla showed that the country's average download speed for fixed broadband was at 58.73 Megabits per second (Mbps), boosting its ranking by 15 notches to secure the 65th spot out of 180 countries.

For mobile, meanwhile, the download speed stood at 31.98 Mbps. This allowed the Philippines to grab 77th place, up by 7 notches, out of 137 countries.
