OPPO announces new-gen Under-Screen Camera tech!

The new OPPO smartphone prototype with an Under-Screen Camera is using smaller pixels to maintain the same 400 ppi sharpness as the rest of the OLED panel allowing its camera to receive more light. It also uses transparent screen wiring that's 50 percent of the width of traditional wiring to offer a better visual experience.

This also features a one-pixel circuit to drive each pixel which gives precise control over the screen chromaticity and brightness with a deviation of just 2 percent, 1-to-1 pixel architecture, and an anti-burn-in algorithm that also increases the screen's lifespan by 50 percent versus the previous solution.

According to OPPO, the result of this new solution is users should notice almost no visual difference between the under-screen camera area and the rest of the screen during everyday use for a more immersive experience.

To recap, the first iteration of this tech could be seen from certain angles if a light source will hit it or if you will use a bright wallpaper.

This time, OPPO even showed the phone running an e-reader app with a white background and black texts and the selfie camera is unnoticeable.

Apart from being less distracting and more immersive, OPPO's latest prototype phone with an Under-Screen Camera also promises improved selfie camera performance.

OPPO shared a selfie sample in daylight and it is noticeably better than previous solutions.

However, OPPO hasn't shared other details about the prototype phone yet. Likely, it will still come with several changes and improvements before it reaches the physical stores.

OPPO might have to do this a little faster as Chinese rival ZTE has the same 400 ppi density UD camera on the Axon 30 5G that is now on sale in China.
