Pro vs GT: Which is the better base model upgrade?
 |
realme 8 Pro design |
Build/Design - The realme 8 Pro has a polycarbonate unibody back and frame and a 2.5D curved glass in front. There's no mention of glass protection. There's no rubber ring in the triple slot tray as well for some sort of water resistance. |
POCO X3 GT back |
The POCO X3 GT has a different design compared to its base variant. It has a glossy, glasstic back with a thick camera bump. Upfront, it has a punch-hole design with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protecting the 2.5D screen.
The POCO X3 GT takes a slight lead here with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Both feature a beautiful design though. |
realme 8 Pro screen |
Display - The realme 8 Pro has a 6.4-inch 2.5D curved Super AMOLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, FHD+ 2400 x 1080 resolution at 411 ppi. |
POCO X3 GT's screen |
The POCO X3 GT has a 6.6-inch 2.5D curved LCD (LTPS) screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, DynamicSwitch (30Hz/48Hz/50Hz/60Hz/90Hz/120Hz), 240Hz touch sampling rate, FHD+ 2400 x 1080 resolution at 399 ppi
As we all can see, the POCO X3 GT has a better overall screen with a 120Hz LTPS panel with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It also has DynamicSwitch that can switch from 30Hz up to 120Hz. The realme 8 Pro has a Super AMOLED screen though with an In-Display fingerprint sensor.
Specs - The realme 8 Pro has a 2.0GHz 8nm Snapdragon 720G octa-core processor, Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, up to 128GB UFS 2.1 expandable storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 50W VOOC SuperDart Charge.
The POCO X3 GT features the 2.6GHz 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1100 octa-core processor, Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, up to 256GB UFS 3.1 expandable storage, and 5,000mAh battery with 67W Turbo Charging.
In terms of performance, the POCO X3 GT takes the lead with a faster CPU and GPU. It also has a bigger option for storage. It also has a bigger battery with a faster charging voltage. Overall, the POCO X3 GT wins here but the realme 8 Pro is still no joke though. |
realme 8 Pro's quad-cameras |
Cameras - The realme 8 Pro features a quad-camera setup with 108MP f/1.88 Samsung HM2 w/ PDAF + 8MP f/2.25 119-degree ultra-wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 4cm macro + 2MP f/2.4 B&W + dual LED flash. It also has a 16MP f/2.45 Sony IMX471 selfie camera. |
POCO X3 GT's triple cameras |
The POCO X3 GT also features a triple camera setup with 64MP f/1.79 w/ PDAF + 8MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra-wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 macro with dual-tone LED flash. It also has a 16MP f/2.45 selfie sensor.
Here, the realme 8 Pro has a bigger 108MP main sensor. It also has a Sony IMX471 selfie sensor. Again, camera performance is also affected by software but since this is a specs comparison, realme wins this department.
Other features - The realme 8 Pro has dual-band WiFi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, OTG, FM Radio, GPS, A-GPS, dual SIM, In-Display fingerprint sensor, face unlock, Hi-Res Audio, Dolby Atmos, dual-mic, dual-mic, and USB-C.
The POCO X3 GT has a WiFi 6, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.2, OTG, NFC, GPS L1CA+L5, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, NavIC, dual SIM, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock, IR Blaster, stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Wireless Audio, Dolby Atmos, X-axis linear motor, LiquidCool Technology 2.0, and USB-C.
realme 8 Pro advantages - Slimmer design, Super AMOLED screen, 108MP quad cameras, Sony IMX471 selfie sensor, In-display fingerprint sensor
POCO X3 GT advantages - Better 120Hz screen, better performance specs, bigger battery with 67W fast charging, 5G connectivity, WiFi 6, feature-packed
Our thoughts
For PHP 1K less, the POCO X3 GT blows the realme 8 Pro out of the water for the most part. The latter only got a few points for the Super AMOLED screen. It is also a slimmer smartphone. Its major win came in the camera department as well.
What do you guys think?
