Smart Communications only PH telco in Opensignal 5G Global Leaders roster

Smart Communications is the only local telco player that has been positioned as one of Opensignal's global 5G leaders.

With the latest 5G global ranking of Opensignal, Smart has secured another feat after flaunting an improved 5G mobile network.

The report showed that Smart has been named as a global leader in 5G video experience and for the global impact of 5G across all four metrics, including user experience.

Smart had a score of 81.6 in global video experience alongside other 5G leaders: SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+, AIS in Thailand, and other carriers from Hong Kong and Taiwan.

According to Opensignal, its methodology includes measuring real-world video streams from smartphone users over an operator's 5G network—including picture quality, stall rate and loading time. It also uses International Telecommunication Union approach to determine video quality.

Opensignal said its report was based on billions of individual measurements it has been collecting from millions of devices worldwide.

Our data comes from actual smartphone users and we report users’ actual network experience, whether they are indoors or out, bustling in a busy city or trekking in the countryside., the company said in its report.

Just recently, Opensignal also named Smart Communications as the country’s best 5G mobile operator.

The Pangilinan-led telco boasts its more than 4,000 5G sites deployed to over 3,000 areas nationwide.
