PLDT bares plan to establish "hyperscaler" data center |
First in the PH?
The group said the "hyperscaler" data center facility will have the capacity to cater to global companies' power and IT requirements. It will also be telco neutral and will incorporate sustainability in its design and operations.
This hyperscaler data center is a first of its kind. It will have more power capacity in one facility versus all our 10 VITRO data centers combined. It will also be designed to be a global class in energy efficiency and reliability and will make use of the latest in green technology, PLDT vice president and head of ICT Business for Enterprise Nico Alcoseba was quoted as saying in a statement.
The official was confident the group could gain from the expected boom of the data center market in the region.
To support the growing needs of global technology giants and cloud service providers expanding in the region, we at the PLDT Group are proud to announce that we will be building the first hyperscaler data center facility in the Philippines, Alcoseba said.
PLDT also believes the telco could contribute to the government's goal of making the Philippines a prime destination for hyperscalers.
The PLDT Group operates the largest network of data centers in the country with its VITRO Data Center facilities situated in different strategic locations. These data centers are also supported by the extensive 524,000-kilometer fiber-optic network laid out by PLDT across the archipelago, connecting the Philippines to the world.
