MediaTek WiFi 7 showcased via its first live demo

What's to expect with MediaTek WiFi 7 technology?

The live demo highlights the capabilities of the new WiFi 7 Filogic connectivity lineup. It shows the technology's super-fast speeds and low latency transmission. MediaTek stated that the rollout of WiFi 7 will mark the first time that WiFi can truly be considered a wired Ethernet connection replacement. It aims to be the go-to connection option for cloud gaming, 4K calls, and 8K media streaming.

The demo also shows how MediaTek's WiFi 7 Filogic technology achieves its maximum speed defined by IEEE 802.11be and its multi-link operation (MLO) technology. MLO technology combines many channels on separate frequency bands at the same time to demonstrate how network data can continue to flow smoothly even when the bands are congested or get interference. This technology will be essential for delivering quicker and more reliable video streaming, gaming, and any other application that requires consistent, sustained, and real-time throughput.

WiFi 7 introduces brand new features across all WiFi spectrums including 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz. With WiFi 7 able to use 320Mhz channels and support 4K quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) technology, it will deliver 2.4X faster speeds than Wi-Fi 6. It also has multi-user resource unit (MRU) features for increased interference avoidance and mitigation.

MediaTek's WiFi 7 technology is expected to hit the market by 2023.
