Garmin fēnix 7 series and epix smartwatches arrive in the Philippines!

Almost a month after its global launch, Garmin fēnix 7 series and epix are now official in the Philippines!

Solar charging capabilities and LED flashlight feature for nighttime activities!

The Garmin fēnix 7 series has three models namely the 42mm fēnix 7S, 47mm fēnix 7, and 51mm fēnix 7X. These smartwatches are made from fiber-reinforced polymer and stainless steel.

The special Solar and Sapphire Solar models feature sapphire glass protection and titanium casings as well as solar charging panels. With GPS enabled, Garmin says the max battery for the 7S is 90 hours and 162 hours with solar charging. Meanwhile, fēnix 7 can have 289 hours with solar from 136 hours without it. For the 7X, Garmin claims you'll get 213 hours or 578 hours with solar.

Back sensors

All fēnix 7 variants sport a transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) color touchscreen displays — 1.2-inch diagonal on the 42mm model, 1.3-inch on the 47mm model, and 1.4-inch on the 51mm model. 

Despite having touchscreen capabilities, there are still five side-mounted buttons on each watch that provide haptic controls.

Garmin fēnix 7X has a shiny, new, hands-free LED flashlight feature with adjustable red or white light to help individuals or athletes see and be seen during nighttime activities. According to Garmin, this can be activated via a double-tap either by the left or right hand. 

It also has an optional strobe mode, where the flashlight matches a runner's cadence, too. Cool! Garmin says it functions like head and tail lights on cars so that others have a better sense of which direction a person is headed.

It can track sleep, heart, and pulse rate

Garmin added a Real-Time Stamina tool to the software department to help users compare the potential stamina they would have at moderate intensity versus their stamina at their current effort level.

A new mapping feature called "Up Ahead" is also added. This tells users the location of aid stations, elevation climbs, water, and other points of interest on a particular course.

Other features include wrist-based heart rate measures, SpO2, stress, breathing, and sleep tracking are all included in the latest fēnix versions, which are also 10ATM waterproof.

A wide array of activities are available!

Users can also download TopoActive and ski maps right to the watch for the best navigation on climbing or skiing activities. 

All fēnix 7 smartwatches are compatible with all GNSS positioning standards, including the L5 standard, which provides more precise information. The fēnix 7S has 16GB of storage while the Sapphire Solar has 32GB, and all models include NFC that supports Garmin Pay.

Alongside the fēnix 7 series, Garmin is bringing a fresh take on its epix series. This line has three 47mm models and includes many of the similar features with the Fenix 7, such as buttons, touchscreens, and Real-Time Stamina.

Garmin epix (Gen 2)

Each sport a 1.3-inch Always-On AMOLED touchscreen housed in a stainless steel or titanium chassis. It is protected by Gorilla Glass DX, while the top-tier models are made of sapphire crystal.

As for the battery, the Garmin epix promises 16-day stamina on a single charge. It also has the same health and activity tracking from the Fenix 7 series. It also has up to 32GB storage and 10ATM water resistance.

The difference between the two are the LED flashlight and solar charging features.
