Globe partnering with more towercos

In a statement, the telco said that it ended the first quarter with 91 tower company (towerco) sites, almost 57 percent more than the 58 sites fired up a year ago.

These new towers are powering 16 provinces across the country: La Union and Pangasinan in Northern Luzon; Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Tarlac in Central Luzon; Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon in Southern Luzon; Occidental Mindoro in Mimaropa; and Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur and South Cotabato in Mindanao.

Globe said it has been sealing deals with tower companies, allowing it to reach more communities.

An executive of the company said the group would continue to tap tower companies "to bring reliable service and a better experience to our customers."

Our infrastructure partnerships are invaluable in our efforts to expand our reach and further boost our service for the benefit of our customers. As more towercos carry our traffic across the country, we will reach our build goal faster, with greater cost-efficiency, said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP Head of Network Planning and Engineering, Network Technical Group.

For this year, Globe is keeping its massive investment reaching PHP 89 billion to finance its network expansion. In 2021, Globe built 1,407 new cell sites, while some 22,300 mobile sites were upgraded.
