Xiaomi 12S Ultra with SD8+ Gen 1 and cameras co-engineered with Leica launched!

Xiaomi has just launched the new Xiaomi 12S Ultra with cameras co-engineered with Leica and with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

A massive leap in cameras?

In a recent live stream, Xiaomi launched the new Xiaomi 12S series. At the top of the line is the new Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

It features a large 6.73-inch Samsung AMOLED LTPO display with 3200 x 1440 resolution, 1500 nits peak brightness, variable 1-120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, and Dolby Vision support. It is Gorilla Glass Victus protected.

Inside is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with an All-new 3D cooling system. Alongside the SoC is 8GB/12GB LPDDR5 RAM (6400Mbps), 256GB/512GB UFS 3.1, FBO storage refresh, and 4,860mAh battery.

It supports 67W wired turbocharging, 50W wireless turbocharging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. For safety, it comes with a Xiaomi Surge Battery management system, Xiaomi Surge G1 Battery Management Chip, and Xiaomi Surge P1 Charging Chip.

The phone comes with Symmetrical stereo speakers with SOUND BY Harman Kardon that supports Dolby Atmos.

Massive camera array

At the back of the phone is an impressive Leica Summicron 1:1.9-4.1 /13-120 ASPH. camera system. The first camera is a 50.3MP f/1.9 23mm 1-inch sensor (IMX989) with Octa-PD AutoFocus and with Multi-Layer ALD ultra-low reflectance coating. Next up is the 48MP f/2.2 13mm 1/2-inch sensor (IMX586) with Dual-PD AutoFocus and with Macro mode, The last camera on the back is a 48MP f/4.1 120mm periscope 1/2-inch sensor (IMX586) with Dual-PD AutoFocus.

While in front is a 32MP RGBW Image sensor for the selfie camera.

Other features include Dual 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, IP68 dust, and water resistance.

The phone measures 163.17 x 74.92 x 9.06mm and weighs 225 grams. The back features a leather-like back. It will come in either Classic Black or Verdant Green.
