According to the latest Speedtest Global Index report from internet analysis leader Ookla, the Philippines has been steadily climbing the ranks.

PH now has the 5th fastest internet in SEA
Out of the 11 countries in Southeast Asia, the testing firm said that the Philippines now has the 5th fastest internet in Southeast Asia.
In particular, the Philippines registered a Median Download Speed average of 78.69 Mbps. This is higher than Brunei at 51.07 Mbps, Laos at 28.75 Mbps, Indonesia at 22.36 Mbps, Cambodia at 19.82 Mbps, Myanmar at 18,51 Mbps, and East Timor at 5.63 Mbps.

The countries with better numbers than PH are Vietnam at 79.85 Mbps, Malaysia at 89.09 Mbps, Thailand at 195.22 Mbps, and Singapore at 215.83 Mbps.
Ookla said that the rise in rankings by the country is due to the investments to modernize and upgrade copper infrastructure and the active migration to fiber as well as connecting many first-time users by the Philippine operators.
To those who missed it, Ookla's median download speed data are said to more accurately reflect the speeds that users get.
