CES 2023: ASUS announces new ROG Strix SCAR 16/18, Zephyrus G14/G16/M16, and Flow X13/X16/Z13

ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16, Strix SCAR 18

The Strix SCAR 16 and 18 have been renamed due to a new chassis that supports the larger 16-inch and 18-inch 16:10 aspect-ratio screens. Both variants now support the most recent ROG QHD, 240Hz Nebula HDR display with Mini LED technology.

Improved cooling provided by ROG's redesigned chassis enables the CPU and GPU to accelerate for maximum framerates. For more effective heat removal, the new Strix SCAR 16 and 18 incorporate a full-width heatsink and Tri-Fan Technology. The high-end components of the SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 now function more effectively because of ROG's use of Thermal Grizzly's Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal.

Both can have up to 13th Intel Core i9 processor, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, up to 64GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM, and up to 4TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Both also have a 90Whr battery.

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 and Strix G18 also feature up to a QHD Nebula QHD 240Hz screen with a 3ms response rate and a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. Both can have up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, up to 32GB DDR5 4800MHz, up to 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, and up to a 90Whr battery.

There are also FHD 165Hz variants that can also be fitted with a 64Whr and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB GPU.

Additionally, ASUS revealed that the Strix SCAR 17 and Strix G17 would also receive an update in 2023. The new AMD Ryzen 9 CPU found in both devices is capable of handling content development or gaming tasks. The Strix SCAR 17 can accommodate an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU at a maximum TGP of 175W with Dynamic Boost thanks to the unique vapor chamber within.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU in the Strix G17 has a maximum TGP of 140W, providing enough power for the most recent games. For powerful and tear-free gaming, both workstations include QHD 240Hz displays with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and G-SYNC.

All Zephyrus models have two-way AI noise reduction, Dolby Atmos speakers, and a 3D microphone array with several modes. The G16 features a 720P camera, while the G14 and M16 both have an FHD IR camera.

The ErgoLift hinges on Zephyrus models offer comfort, and all models enable Windows Hello and are Pantone-validated monitors with Dolby Vision. Also supported are DisplayPort 1.4, power supply, PD charging, and Wi-Fi 6E on a 100 W USB Type-C connector.

The ROG Zephyrus G16 features an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series GPU with a 120 W maximum TGP, a MUX Switch, and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus in addition to a 13th generation Intel Core i9-13900H processor. The ROG Zephyrus G14 sports a laptop GPU from the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series with a 125 W TGP, MUX Switch, and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and up to an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU.

The ROG Zephyrus M16 features an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series laptop GPU with a 145 W maximum TGP, a MUX Switch, and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus in addition to a 13th generation Intel Core i9-13900H processor. Both the G16 and M16 support Thunderbolt 4, and both offer the customizable AniMe Matrix display to highlight the user's personality

The ROG Zephyrus G16 has HDMI 2.1, a 90 Whr battery, and a 94 percent screen-to-body ratio. The ROG Zephyrus M16 has a QHD Mini LED 240 Hz, 3 ms ROG Nebula HDR display with G-SYNC and a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. It boasts a full-width heatsink, a 90 Wh battery with Power Delivery 3.0, ROG Intelligent Cooling Tri-fan technology, and quick charging capabilities.

The AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40-series laptop GPU are both found in the ROG Flow X13. It may be used as a stand, tent, tablet, and laptop in 360 degrees. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40-series laptop GPU does not require an external GPU. Performance is improved with the liquid metal CPU and three exhaust vents. It has a 130 W AC converter, a 100W USB-C quick charger, and a 75 Whr battery.

A 13-inch QHD 165 Hz Nebula display or an FHD 120 Hz panel with Dolby Vision, a touchscreen made of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass DXC, G-SYNC, and Advanced Optimus make up the ROG Flow X13's stunning visuals. A full-sized 15-inch keyboard, an extended touchpad, premium Dolby Atmos audio, and two-way AI noise reduction are all included, as well as an FHD IR camera with Windows Hello.

The 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H processor, up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series laptop GPU, up to 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD storage, and up to 16 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM with dual upgradeable SO-DIMMs are all featured in the 360-degree hybrid ROG Flow X16.

The  ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet sports a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series laptop GPU, with support for G-SYNC and DDS 2.0, and it has a 13-inch, 1.1-kg chassis. Up to 170 degrees of flexibility in viewing angles are available, and XG Mobile external GPUs are supported. It supports touch, a controller, a keyboard, and a mouse.

100 percent of DCI-P3 is covered by the 13-inch Nebula Display's QHD 165 Hz panel. With Windows Hello, the touchscreen is made of scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass DXC. Due to its two-in-one form size, vapor chamber, and liquid metal cooling, it is silent even when it is fully loaded.

It offers style and gaming convenience with a detachable 15-inch RGB keyboard and USB-C power from a 130W charger. Additionally, it also has features like Thunderbolt 4, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, a smart amp, and two-way AI noise suppression.

All of these are set to be available globally in Q2 2023. Local pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed. We will update you as soon as we get more information.
