The company's successful deployment in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro

Globe has deployed pilot lens antenna technology!

The said innovation is aimed to provide upgraded 4G LTE and 5G capacity and lowers coverage holes, particularly in condensed areas.

MatSing Ltd developed the lens antenna and is being deployed by IBMS Technology Phils Corp. It is capable of effectively meeting the capacity demands of data-heavy smartphone apps, making it suitable for outdoor events, rural places, and heavily populated sites in major cities, stadiums, coliseaums, rally events, and even symposia.

The telco also deployed its technical team to perform rigorous on-site testing. At first, the team places four antennas in two Globe cell sites in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, and another Cell site On Wheels (COW) at the Head in the Clouds Music and Arts Festival in Manila last December. Both implementations also resulted in positive outcomes.

According to Globe, the said antennas proved to have a better performance against the existing multibeam antennas in all aspects.

They said the new innovations are able to provide faster mobile download and upload data speed leading to lag-free video streaming, gaming, HD video calls, and zero delay messaging services even in peak hours and highly populated areas.

Globe continued that, the solution has an improved indoor penetration w/ wider reach that ultimately leads to a more consistent data connection where ever the users are located.

A student Eugune Ebelada Bacence from San Jose, Occidental Mindoro testified how the internet connection was improved in his city because of the new tech.

Ngayon, pag nagkaklase kami, hindi na putol-putol at nauunawaan ang tinuturo ng teacher namin, he said in a testimonial video.

There's also a front office associate at a hotel in a similar region named Myla Novino who said that Globe has better reception at the hotel where she goes after previously experiencing a weak signal.

Nitong mga nakaraang araw hindi na siya ganon tulad dati na nawawalan ng signal. Ngayon talaga at least malakas na ‘yung signal. Mas okay siya nagagamit siya for internet, YouTube, she said.

Based on the Telco, there are also select performance metrics observed on the network which are directly related to lens antennas: 8.36 times improved coverage with stronger and wider LTE signals, 7.92 times increased average LTE speed, 3.1 times greater traffic volume and network usage, and 2.67 times enhanced network quality and mobile data connections.

Globe is always a pioneer in adopting new technologies for its customers. The lens antenna technology is another major milestone in Globe's efforts to provide Filipinos with reliable and high-quality mobile connectivity. We are thrilled with the results of the pilot deployment and are excited to continue working with MatSing to bring this innovation to our network on a larger scale; said Gerhard Tan, Head of Network Strategy and Technology Enablement at Globe.

The firm also mentioned that they intend to widen the implementation of lens antennas in regions with major events and in key pilot sites within Visayas and Mindanao. Some provinces included are Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Iloilo, Antique, Aklan, Bohol, Capiz, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Zamboanga del Norte, North Cotabato, and Zamboanga del Sur.

MatSing is thankful to the Globe team for the opportunity to demonstrate the technical superiority of our patented lens antennas to deliver superior mobile connectivity for their user base, said MatSing CEO Bo Larsson. The extensive macro deployment proved that our lens antennas will deliver higher capacity and enhanced performance in all deployment scenarios.

Finally, the telco said that the use of lens antenna technology is aligned with their sustainability efforts as they want this solution to be durable and future-proof.
