NBA 2K24 features Basketball Legend Kobe Bryant as cover athlete!

2K Games has chosen the Black Mamba as its Cover Athlete for the 25th celebration of the basketball game franchise.

The move was also to commemorate the late Kobe Bryant who had a great impact in this generation. To recall, he was selected 18x in All-Star, won 5 NBA Championships, 2x Finals MVP, 2x Gold medalist in Olympics, and was an all-time leading scorer for LA Lakers.

On top of those, Kobe also received the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer award as well.

For this game's version, there will be NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant Edtion, Black Mamba Edition, and exclusive 25th Anniversary Edition w/12-month NBA League Pass.

The 25th Edition

Fans may expect the game to arrive on September 8 on all platforms. That includes PC, Xbox Series X and S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and even Nintendo Switch.

NBA 2K also noted that there will be cross-play compatibility between the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S.

As we celebrate 25 years of NBA 2K with Kobe Bryant, we commemorate his legacy and the generational impact he has had on the game of basketball,” said Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts. “While we mark the history of the franchise, NBA 2K24 also looks ahead to the future to bring an innovative leap in technology and the introduction of community-requested features like crossplay.

Obviously, players will be able to experience the basketball journey of Kobe through the brand-new Mamba Moments Mode. That means users can recreate Kobe's most iconic performances and progress starting from a young athlete to being one of the GOATS in the industry.

Additionally, the NBA 2K24 will introduce "ProPLAY". This will be a new tech that directly translates NBA footage into NBA 2K24 gameplay.

The developers said that "ProPlay" will bring animations and movements via on-cour NBA action for a generational leap of authenticity on next-gen consoles. 2K Games also said that there will be more details on Mamba Moments and ProPlay that fans can expect this summer season.
