Bose announces the Ultra Open Earbuds!

The main idea of the open-ear design is to allow users to still listen to their content while also being able to hear the surroundings because their ears are unobstructed at all times.

The Ultra Open Earbuds are meant to be worn on the outer ear and hung from the auricles. These have a U-shaped design with a section within the outer ear and a barrel hanging outside, which are joined by a soft rubber material.  Meanwhile, the barrel also includes a button for accessing various features and playback options.

The Ultra Open Earbuds utilize Bose's exclusive OpenAudio technology, which sends audio directly into your ear canal using a strong transducer and a closely controlled acoustic structure to minimize leakage, so the sound is only audible to the wearer.

The earbuds come with Bose Immersive Audio, which makes use of the brand's unique digital signal processing and an inbuilt inertial measurement unit to produce a spatial audio effect that makes the sound appear to be coming from all around you. The feature includes two modes: static for sitting still and motion for moving about.

Furthermore, the Ultra Open Earbuds use Snapdragon sound and the most recent aptX Adaptive codec that supports HiFi (lossless) and low latency audio. It connects via Bluetooth 5.3 however it doesn't have multi-device pairing. The remedy is that users can switch back and forth between the current and last paired device with a single press of the button.

Bose also says that it has Auto Volume which automatically tweaks the volume based on surrounding noise. Furthermore, it supports Google Fast Pair and has an IPX4 rating for water and sweat resistance. Meanwhile, the Bose SimpleSync for pairing allows users to sync with select Bose smart soundbars or speakers.

In terms of battery, the Ultra Open Earbuds have 7.5 hours of continuous playback. But when using the Immersive Audio mode, it gets down to 4.5 hours instead. For charging, the case can bring up to 19.5 hours of extended playback. It also supports a 10-minute fast charge that can deliver up to 2 hours of music.
