Now with PDAF, ODAF and CDAF!

Compared to previous generations, the SL3 is noticeably lighter and more compact measuring at 141.2 x 108 x 84.6mm and weighs 769 grams (without the battery, SD card and Camera bayonet cover). Leica says that this new design makes it perfectly balanced when attaching Leica L-Mount lenses. It is still made of a solid full-metal housing that is made of high-quality materials that make it robust enough to be IP54-rated for water and dust resistance.

The new full-frame mirrorless features the 60.3MP Triple Resolution (60, 36, 18MP) CMOS sensor with 5-axis Image stabilization. The brand claims this sensor offers up to 15-stops of dynamic range and 14-bit color depth while reducing noise. These files are saved either in 14-bit DNG or 8-bit JPGs to either the CFexpress Type-B and/or the SD XC II slots.

It is paired with the Maestro IV processor, allowing it to support CFexpress Type-B and record up to 8K (17:9, 16:9) video to a range of highly efficient video codecs.  It has an ISO range of 50-100,000 and a shutter speed range of 60m to 1/8000s with the mechanical shutter and 60s to 1/16,000s with the electronic shutter.

The sensor and processor work together and combine three AutoFocus technologies including Phase Detect, Depth Map (Object Detect) and Contrast Detect Autofocus. The brand says that this results in a highly precise AF system that should meet the professional-grade requirements.

At the back of the camera is the 5.76-million-dot High-resolution EyeRes Viewfinder with a 60/120Hz refresh rate and 100 percent coverage. Below it is the 2.332-million-dot 3.2-inch Backlit LCD touch screen with anti-scratch and anti-fingerprint coatings. It even has a 1.28-inch monochrome LCD top display too.

It has a microphone and a mono speaker but supports microphone input and headphone out via a 3.5mm jack. It connects wirelessly through WLAN, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS.

It uses the Leica BP-SCL6 2,200 mAh Lithium-ion battery that is rated for 260 to 1,350 shots depending on the usage style.

The camera features an HDMI port, USB-C (with charging), 3.5mm microphone in jack and 3.5mm headphone out jack.
