The main changes are found in the reworked mother which now has better ergonomics thanks to a wider chassis, improved robust joysticks, and a bigger battery.

The portable console features the same 7-inch size touchscreen with FHD resolution, 120z refresh rate, and 500 nits of peak brightness.

Inside, it is still powered by the same 4nm Ryzen Z1 Extreme 8-core 16-thread chip and RDNA3 graphics. It also has 24GB dual channel 7500MHz LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB  PCIe Gen 4 M.2 2280 SSD. This type of storage will allow users to swap it easily.

Furthermore, the ROG Ally X now comes with an 80WHr battery which makes it twice the previous one. Asus also fixed the thermal problems with bigger heat pipes and a more silent fan. The changes also have an effect on the power draw as the performance mode now runs at 17W coming from the 15W of previous. For silent mode, it now can work at 13W from 10W.

The D-pad has been enhanced, the joysticks have been updated for greater durability and a five-million-cycle lifespan versus the Steam Deck's two million, and the back-mounted macro button is now smaller and more discreet.

Meanwhile, ASUS removed the XGM port and replaced it with a second USB-C port.

One of these ports supports Thunderbolt, letting users attach an external GPU for more demanding gaming sessions.
