Build Quality/Design

At first glance, the phone looks stunning because of the front and rear curved glass panels and the polycarbonate frame with a faux metal finish. The frame makes the phone solid yet lightweight, especially with the two glass panels.

Solid yet fairly lightweight

The back is interesting as below the glass panel is a light gray area and a mirror-finished area. The mirror finish makes the cameras stand out. Around each camera protrusion is a mirror-finished polycarbonate trim. Inside each protrusion is a black metal barrel that houses the camera modules with a glass cover on top.

Upon holding the phone, you immediately notice how the curved front glass panel, curved frame, and curved rear panel make the phone easy to hold. However, because of the glass panels, the phone is slippery and prone to fingerprint scanners. We recommend wearing a case right away.

It measures 162 x 75.1 x 8.6 mm and weighs 199 grams. It is IP65 water and dust resistance rated.

In front is the aforementioned 6.78-inch curved 8T LTPO screen with a 2,780 x 1,264 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 6,000 nits peak brightness, 2,160Hz PWM Dimming, and a 2,500Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate.

One of the best displays for mobile phones around

The screen has the following certifications: TUV Rheinland Flicker Free, AI Eye Protection, SGS Sun Glare Certification, SGS AI Eye Protection, SGS 5-star eSports Display, and Dolby Vision Playback & Capture.

Around the panel are super slim bezels with the bottom bezel being the thickest at 1.94mm. The punch hole with the selfie camera is on the upper part of the panel. Above it and inside the top bezel is the super slim earpiece.

While in front is the 32MP f/2.45 selfie camera with a 1/2.74-inch Sony IMX615 sensor.

The included modes of the stock camera app include Photo, Video, Portrait, Pro, Street, Hi-Res, Slo-Mo, Dual-View Video, Group Portrait, Movie, Long Exposure, Starry Mode, Night, Pano, Time-Lapse, Text Scanner and Tilt-Shift.

Quick thoughts

Depending on the price, the realme GT6 could be one of the more appealing smartphone options because of its near bleeding-edge flagship specs including the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 6,000nits 120Hz LTPO screen, 120W charging, IR blaster, stereo speakers and IP65 water and dust resistance rating.

Near top-tier for us!

On paper, realme has found the right areas to trade off to keep the price down while offering near-top-tier performance for 2024. The use of the polycarbonate frame and the 8MP ultra-wide camera is an example.

But do not discount its 32MP selfie, 50MP main, 50MP telephoto, and 8MP ultra-wide cameras as they can compete with smartphone cameras in its expected price range.

So far we are excited to see how far the GT6 can perform so we will be using it as one of our main phones.

Stay tuned for the camera samples and the full review soon.
