Empowering 5G smartphones

The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 is helping enhance 5G smartphones with faster games through the MediaTek HyperEngine and improved CPU speeds up to 2.4GHz, as well as cameras of up to 108MP.

Dr. Yenchi Lee, deputy general manager of MediaTek's Wireless Communications Business Unit, broke down the key features of Dimensity 6300 that allow it to enhance user experience:

108MP cameras with enhanced noise reductionNative support for 108MP camera sensors provides detailed photos. Pre-integrated multi-frame noise reduction allows for a stable, clear image in low-light conditions.

Faster games with MediaTek HyperEngineCPU speeds upgraded to reach 2.4GHz make way for faster gaming by 10 percent versus the previous generation, and over 50 percent GPU performance advantage versus other platforms.

MediaTek HyperEngine gaming technologies assist in smartphone gaming enhancements that extend gameplay through up to 11 percent power-efficiency enhancements, up to 13 percent greater FPS in demanding gameplay scenes, intelligent connection prediction between 5G and Wi-Fi, 5G Call/Data concurrency, and better connectivity.

Billion color displaysUsers can see enhanced colors with billion color displays and true color AMOLED, which can display real 10-bit images and videos. Display speeds can reach 120Hz, which helps reduce visual fatigue, and provides an improved user experience, such as page scrolling and animations in apps.

3GPP R16 standard modemThe Dimensity 6300 features a 3GPP Release-16 standard 5G modem, including the latest connectivity enhancements now deployed by cellular operators.

MediaTek 5G UltraSave 3.0+MediaTek 5G UltraSave 3.0+ includes a complete suite of R16 power-saving enhancements, plus MediaTek’s own optimizations lead to improved power efficiency by up to 30% compared to alternatives in common 5G sub-6GHz connectivity scenarios.

Improved 5GAddressing a maximum of 140MHz cellular spectrum enables up to 3.3Gb/s 5G downlink via 2CC carrier aggregation – up to 40 percent faster downlink speeds within urban environments, and up to 30 percent in suburbs, versus competitor alternatives. CA can also apply mixed duplex FDD+TDD combining low and mid-band advantages.

Carrier aggregation also enables a seamless handover between two 5G connection areas across a coverage layer, where users receive over 30 percent more throughput layer coverage than without CA.

Situationally intelligent enhancementsWhen traveling on high-speed rail, subway or traveling in a vehicle underground, MediaTek’s 5G modem recognizes the connection environment and applies enhancements designed to provide 20% more effective downlink speeds compared to competitors.

LB+LB ENDC and 8-layer DL MIMO supportSupport for the latest cellular operator requirements such as dual, low-band ENDC and 8-layer DL MIMO help to ensure a sustainable smartphone.

Power-efficient and compact platform Using the TSMC 6nm-class chip production process ensures an extended battery life. MediaTek’s engineering innovations have also created a more compact platform that gives device designs more freedom in their product creations.
