To recap, the rear camera module that is made up of a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor, OIS and ALC+ALE coating, a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide camera with a 1/1.95-inch Sony LYT-600 sensor and a 4cm focus distance, a 50MP f/2.6 3x telephoto Periscope camera with a Sony IMX890 sensor and Prism OIS, and a 50MP f/4.3 6x telephoto Periscope camera with a Sony IMX858 sensor with Prism OIS, 35cm focus distance and an LED flash.

The stock camera app has the Hasselblad look, fonts, and exclusive filters and modes: Photo, Video, Night, Master(Pro), Portrait, High-Res, Pano, Movie, Slo-Mo, Timelapse, Long Exposure, Dual-View Video, Sticker, AI ID Photo, Text Scanner, and X-Pan. The app also allows switching between the 0.6x, 1x, 2x, 3x, and 6x zoom. Users can push it further to 120x digital zoom.

The app's Pro Mode or Master Mode includes the Pro controls, EV (+-3), the file format (JPG, RAW, RAW Max), Saturation, Contrast, Sharpness, and Vignette. The pro controls include ISO (50-12,800), Shutter speed (1/8000-30 secs), Focus, and White Balance.

Other features include Aspect Ratio, Timer, Histogram, Interval Shooting, and Focus Peaking.

The Hasselblad XPan mode features an aspect ratio of 65:24. The mode places you in the same aspect ratio with controls of EV (+-3) and can switch between 14mm, 23mm, 65mm, and 135mm.

The Portrait Mode is equally robust with bokeh strength control (f/1.4-16), and Beautifcations and it allows switching between 1x, 2x, 3x, and 6x cameras.

It is one of the most robust and feature-packed camera hardware and software we've seen so far.

Here are our shots.

What I really enjoyed about the cameras of the Find X7 Ultra is the seamless transition between lenses and the consistency of exposure and sharpness between them. Because all 4 cameras are 50MP sensors, the detail and sharpness are similar. The contrast, colors, and skin tones are also one of the best we've seen so far.

Where the phone struggled is the 120x even in daylight and with AI. The text on the subject was mush. This is common even on ultra high-end phones like this one.

When shooting indoors, the images are as great as in daylight but what impressed us in the above scene is that even though it was bright daylight, the scene through the glass windows are not overexposed. The colors and details are consistent across the frame.

When shooting close-ups, the detail, color, and contrast are excellent too. When using the longer focal lengths we get a shallower depth of field so the areas that are in focus are small but it gives a pleasing and smooth bokeh or out-of-focus areas.

The Portrait mode defaults to the 3x or the 65mm camera and we recommend using it for the best balance between detail, color, compression, and smooth digital bokeh.

In low light, the main camera produced images with almost no grain. The two telephoto periscope cameras produced some shadow noise but otherwise, the color, contrast, and detail on the low-light images from all cameras are very good.

For selfies, we find its 32MP f/4.5 produced selfies with great sharpness, detail, and contrast. However, the skin tones are inconsistent. There are scenes where it is spot on while there are others where it's off because of the current lighting.

The portrait mode's edge detection is excellent. It almost didn't struggle and was just thrown off by a small number of individual hair fibers. The bokeh intensity can be tweaked. We recommend lowering it to f/2.8 for the best results. The higher apertures look too intense and somewhat unnatural.

Quick thoughts

We enjoyed using the cameras of the Find X7 Ultra in Chiang Mai. The camera hardware and software are varied and well thought out enough to be used in a variety of circumstances.

It enables a lot of creative uses and allows the users to take shots that not all smartphone cameras can take.

What impressed us were the colors, skin tones, and consistency between the rear cameras. We found an issue with the selfie camera's skin tones.

So just note that its camera module is a bit heavy and you may need to adjust to it at first or the phone may tip over.

Unfortunately, there is no word if the handset will arrive in the Philippines.

For videos, we are still testing it. Watch out for our full review.
