Build Quality/Design

Rear design
Rear design

At first glance, the phone looks stunning, especially in this blue vegan leather colorway. The phone is made of curved glass front and rear panels, and vegan leather.

What makes it impressive is that the rear has several separate premium materials. The upper third of the phone (white area) is made of a curved glass panel. The camera module has a metal trim with ridges that is reminiscent of the dials on a Hasselblad camera or the ridge on the outer side of coins. In between the metal trip is another glass panel that is on top of the cameras. On the lower two-thirds of the phone is the vegan leather.

Visually, the Find X7 Ultra is a force to be reckoned with.

Upon holding the phone, you immediately notice how the curved front glass panel, curved frame and curved rear panel make the phone easy to hold. However, because of all those premium materials and the powerful camera hardware, the phone is noticeably heavy. In fact, the camera module makes it feel like it could tip over even though you are firmly holding the phone.

Aside from the visual appeal, the vegan leather makes the phone significantly less slippery when compared to phones with a glass rear panel.

We would proudly carry the phone without a case because of these reasons.

It measures 164.3 x 76.2 x 9.5 mm and weighs 221 grams. It is IP64 water and dust resistance rated.

In front is the aforementioned 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 3,168 x 1,440 resolution, a 1-120Hz refresh rate, and a 4,500 nits peak brightness. It supports 10-bit color, 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 2,160Hz PWM dimming. It is Dolby Vision and TUV Rheinland Eye Comfort certified.

OPPO also says that the panel comes with the rain water touch feature meaning that even if the screen gets wet, it will still function properly.

Around the panel are super slim bezels that are nearly symmetrical. Only the chin bezel is slightly thicker than the rest. On the upper part of the panel is the punch hole that houses the selfie camera. Above it is the razor thin ear-piece.

On top are the antenna lines, speaker grills, microphone port and the IR blaster while at the bottom are the second speaker grills, more antenna lines, USB-C port, microphone port and the SIM tray.

The SIM tray accommodates up to two nanoSIM cards and has a rubber gasket. This reinforces the phone's IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

On the left is the alter slider (ring, vibrate, VIP mode) and the antenna lines while on the right are more antenna lines, the metal volume rocker and the metal power button. Both buttons have a nice resistance to them while having a satisfying feeling when pressed.
Massive Hasselblad Camera module

The back has the huge Hasselblad camera module that is made up of a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor, OIS and ALC+ALE coating, a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide camera with a 1/1.95-inch Sony LYT-600 sensor and a 4cm focus distance, a 50MP f/2.6 3x telephoto Periscope camera with a Sony IMX890 sensor and Prism OIS, and a 50MP f/4.3 6x telephoto Periscope camera with a Sony IMX858 sensor with Prism OIS, 35cm focus distance and an LED flash.

The included modes of the stock camera app include Photo, Video, Night, Master(Pro), Portrait, High-Res, Pano, Movie, Slo-Mo, Timelapse, Long Exposure, Dual-View Video, Sticker, AI ID Photo, Text Scanner and X-Pan. The app also allows switching between the 0.6x, 1x, 2x, 3x, and 6x zoom. Users can push it further to 120x digital zoom.

The Master Mode includes the Pro controls, EV (+-3), the file format (JPG, RAW, RAW Max), Saturation, Contrast, Sharpness and Vignette. The pro controls include ISO (50-12,800), Shutter speed (1/8000-30 secs), Focus, and White Balance.

Added features include Aspect Ratio, Timer, Histogram, Interval Shooting and Focus Peaking.

My personal favorite mode is the XPan which is a nod to the Popular Hasselblad XPan Panoramic Film camera with an aspect ratio of 65:24. The mode places you in the same aspect ratio with controls of EV (+-3) and the ability to switch between 14mm, 23mm, 65mm and 135mm.

The Portrait Mode is equally robust with bokeh strength control (f/1.4-16), and Beautifcations and it allows switching between 1x, 2x, 3x and 6x cameras.

Quick thoughts

Web surfing on the OPPO Find X7 Ultra
Web surfing on the OPPO Find X7 Ultra

The OPPO Find X7 Ultra is already one of the better and more appealing flagships because of its design, build, specs and Google services.

We particularly liked that it is made of glass, metal and vegan leather. The rear also has a unique design, using vegan leather on the lower two-thirds glass on the upper third and the camera module.

This powerful performance can be attributed to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage, resulting in a record-breaking 2 Million in AnTuTu.

Let's remember the 6.82-inch 120Hz curved LTPO AMOLED QHD+ display with certifications from Dolby Vision, TUV Rheinland Eye Comfort, and DXOMark.

It also includes features like WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IR Blaster, Dual SIM and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Lastly, it has a 5,000mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC. Unlike some brands, the 100W charger is included in the box as well.

We are working on our full review which will be finished by next week, so stay tuned.
