GCash alerts Android users on reinstalling issue

Mobile wallet GCash issued an advisory for Android users who uninstalled its application.

In a Facebook post, the company said it was already fixing the issue. GCash said a system update can be expected to enhance customer experience.

GCash advised its users to try downloading the mobile application by 12 noon tomorrow, July 12.

Earlier this month, the company was also in the news after cybersecurity group Deep Web Konek said that threat actor KryptonZombie targeted the know-your-customer (KYC) system of GCash. KYC verifies the account user's identity to ensure GCash will not be used for fraud, money laundering, and other illegal acts.

But GCash said initial findings showed no proof of a data breach in its system.

GCash said it was cooperating with local authorities amid the series of hacking attempts made against government agencies and other corporations.

GCash has currently over 80 million users.
