Kicking off the year with our first post: A durability test of the HONOR X9c, the company's latest extra-tough mid-range phone, set to launch in the Philippines on January 10, 2024.

We did several drop tests in our tiles flooring from table high to 5 feet high. We also dropped it from our balcony with an estimated height of around 15 feet (4.5 meters), higher than the two-meter drop claim of the company.

Then, we also used it to crush some garlic with force and chopped some ginger on its display using expensive and ultra-sharp Japanese knives of different sizes.

After that, we also splashed it with 2 shots of boiling hot water from my Breville Bambino Plus (Sea Salt) espresso machine and hot steamed its body for almost 1 minute.

The damage on the display? NONE. On the body? Just a tiny hardly noticeable dent on its upper-left corner.

To those who do not know, the new HONOR X9c 5G features an improved all-angle triple defense technology which earned it an SGS 5-Star rating for Drop Resistance. This can withstand up to two-meter drops defying industry standards.

Moreover, the device also has a water resistance feature with an IP65M (M means protection against moving water) rating allowing it to be submerged up to 25cm deep for a maximum of 5 minutes. This phone is also protected from 360-degree water spray. 

Moreover, this device can take extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C cold to 70°C hot.

The company told us that they improved the overall structure and materials used which includes the curved glass, frame, cushioning, and water seals of the device.

This device will be launched on January 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM on the official HONOR Philippines' Facebook page.

The company teased that they will also do a 500-foot drop test on a chopper during the launch.
