vivo Y29 4G arrives in PH: 6.68-inch HD screen, SD685 chip, 6,500mAh battery, PHP 8,999 starting price

vivo Philippines earlier launched its newest budget smartphone called the Y29 4G.

Thankfully, it has a seemingly durable build and a large battery capacity

The new vivo Y29 4G features a "sleek-looking" design available in Marble White and Espresso Brown colorways.

It is also said to be a durable entry-level smartphone featuring a Comprehensive Cushioning Structure that reinforces internal components and boosts overall shock absorption, an IP64 dust and water resistance rating, and a SCHOTT Shield Glass-protected LCD panel with offers 64 percent greater drop resistance than standard glass and has passed 2,500 scratch resistance tests.

As a result, vivo claims that the Y29 has also earned both SGS Five-Star Drop Resistance and Military Grade Certification.

Moreover, it has a protective case freebie featuring an airbag structure that enhances drop resistance on all sides.

For specs, the display is a little disappointing as the resolution has not been boosted to 1080p. Instead, its users will have to deal with a 6.68-inch LCD panel with a 120Hz screen and HD+ 1608 x 720 resolution.

Under the hood, even something like the old Helio G99 would have been better. Rather, the company loaded the device with the  2.4GHz 6nm Snapdragon 685 octa-core processor with Adreno GPU.

They paired it with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB of slower eMMC 5.1 internal storage.

The saving grace of the phone is its large 6,500mAh battery with up to 10.93 hours of PUBG gaming and 5-Year Durability. It could be charged via USB-C up to 44W. According to the company, a 1 to 100 percent full charge only needs 92 minutes.

The device also has a stereo speaker setup with up to 400 percent volume, 200 percent call audio, Android 15 OS with Circle to Search with Google, AI Erase, AI Screen Translation, and more.
