The chipset reveal

Not a real flagship SoC, but still powerful

London-based consumer technology company Nothing has confirmed that its next flagship smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3), will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor.

The device, described as the brand's first true flagship smartphone, is set to launch on July 1 at an event in London.

Nothing CEO Carl Pei shared the details during a Q&A session on the company's YouTube channel, where he discussed topics including the tech industry, the over-ear audio market, Essential Space, and the research and development behind the Phone (3).

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is Qualcomm's newest high-end SoC, succeeding last year's 8s Gen 3. It features an octa-core 5G configuration with a Cortex-X4 prime core capable of reaching speeds up to 3.2GHz.

In terms of performance, the said chip seems to be in between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

While the Nothing Phone (3) may not offer a real "flagship" chip, you still won't have problems in the performance department, as this should still be a strong processor after all.

Other confirmed changes include the removal of the Glyph Interface, which will be replaced by an undisclosed new feature. In a post on its official X account, Nothing stated that it had removed the iconic lighting system. Many of the brand's teaser images also feature a pixelated, bug-shaped logo, potentially hinting at a fresh design direction following the departure of the Glyph LEDs.

Finally, the Nothing Phone (3) is reported to feature up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage options, and will have a starting price of USD 799 (around PHP 44.5K) and up to USD 899 (around PHP 50K) for the top-end variant.

What do you guys think?
