A more affordable MacBook is expected to be released
Apple is expected to launch a cheaper MacBook powered by the A18 Pro processor, according to tech expert Ming-Chi Kuo.
An approximately 13-inch display and powered by the A18 Pro processor. Potential casing colors include silver, blue, pink, and yellow, he said on a post on X.
Kuo expected mass production to start in late Q4 2025 or early Q1 2026.
The launch will be just in time as Apple aims to return total MacBook shipments to the COVID-19 peak of around 25 million units in 2026. Meanwhile, the cheaper variant is projected to account for 5 million–7 million units in 2026.
MacBooks are currently powered by M chip.
The A18 Pro chip’s single-core score is around 3500, nearly on par with the M4 chip used in the Mac mini.
The A18’s multi-core score is also comparable to the 2020 M1 chip still being used today.
