The nation's first fully electric, on-demand taxi fleet

Grab has updated its features to include the electric taxi option on its platform.

The ride-hailing app first launched the GrabTaxi Electric—the nation's first fully electric, on-demand taxi fleet. This was launched in partnership with local operator EV Taxi Corp, beginning operations in key Metro Manila hubs including Makati, Taguig, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Paranaque, and Pasay.

When booking on the Grab app, you can see the electric taxi option when you tap the Standard Car option. You just need to toggle the button to indicate whether you want an electric taxi or not.

Grab noted that the new feature is still in beta and that there is still limited availability.

According to Grab's fare computation, booking a Grab EV taxi includes:

  • Booking fee - PHP 69
  • Flag down rate (first 500 meters) - PHP 50
  • Travel time (every 60 seconds) - PHP 2.00
  • Succeeding KM ( per 1 km) - PHP 13.50

For instance, riding the standard 4-seater car from SM North EDSA to SM Megamall costs PHP 319. Under the electric taxi option, the fare ranges from PHP 294 to PHP 353.

Grab also indicates how many minutes away a car is from your pickup location.

Are you going to try this new feature?
