OPPO A6 Pro 5G Unboxing, First Impressions and Camera Samples - Budget Vapor Chamber and MIL-STD-810H

We unbox the newly teased OPPO A6 Pro 5G, which is equipped with a Dimensity 6300 chipset, Vapor Chamber Cooling, and a 6,500mAh battery.

OPPO has teased the new A6 Pro 5G series, its latest budget model that comes in either a 6,500mAh or 7,000mAh variant. Both variants are nearly identical except for the battery capacity.

The new phone features a 120Hz 6.57-inch AMOLED screen, a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa-core processor, a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, and a 6,500mAh/7,000mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging via USB-C.

It is IP66 + IP68 + IP69 dust and water-resistant. On the front is a 16MP f/1.8 selfie camera, while on the back is the 50MP f/1.8 main camera, and there is a 2MP f/2.4 monochrome camera with an LED flash.

Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.4 LE, NFC, 4G, and 5G.

In the Philippines, the price has yet to be revealed. If priced competitively, it could be a pretty and capable option for those in the market for a budget option.

We expect it to be priced near the price of the previous generation A5 Pro 5G, which was priced at PHP 15,999.

Unboxing/Accessories

OPPO A6 Pro 5G packaging

Like recent OPPO smartphones, it comes in a gray packaging with a dark gray square. Around the box are the OPPO A6 Pro 5G branding and regulatory information.

Inside the box are the OPPO A6 Pro 5G, a USB-A to USB-C cable, SIM ejector, silicone case, an 80W wall charger, and documentation.

Unfortunately, the box does not include earphones.

Build Quality/Design

OPPO A6 Pro 5G's rear design

At first glance, the phone caught our eye because of the coral pink flower pattern and the square-ish camera module at the back. It measures 158.20 x 75.02 x 8.0 mm and weighs 185 grams.

The frame is metal-like with a brushed texture. It is sandwiched with glass front (glossy) and rear (frosted) panels. 

The phone is MIL-STD-810H certified, as well. This means it passed US Department of Defense environmental standards, including extreme temperatures, shocks, vibrations, altitudes, and pressures.

Solid, glossy, and Reno-looking

It is IP66 + IP68 + IP69 dust and water resistance rated, meaning that the product is resistant to most immersion for a limited time. The IP69 rating means it can be immersed in hot water of up to 80°C at a 1.5 meters deep water for up to 30 minutes.

In front is those as mentioned above 6.57-inch flat AMOLED screen with a 2,372 x 1,080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 1,400 nits HDR brightness. It supports 10-bit color. 

Both the front and rear glass panels are AGC DT-Star D+ protected.

Around the panel is a symmetrical 1.67mm ultra-narrow bezel.

On top are the microphone port and the second speaker, while at the bottom are the speaker grill, USB-C port, microphone port, and a SIM tray.

Like previous Find X series and Reno series smartphones, the speaker volume can be pushed up to 300x.

The SIM tray accommodates up to two nano SIM cards. There is a rubber gasket that confirms the IP rating.

On the left is a smooth surface, while on the right are the volume rocker and the power button. Both have a nice resistance when pressed. It does make a slight plastic-y sound when pressed.

At the back are the 50MP f/1.8 main camera and the 2MP f/2.4 Monochrome camera with an LED flash.

In front is the 16MP f/2.4 selfie camera found on the punch hole on the display.

Only the rear camera can capture 1080p at 60fps. 

The stock camera app includes Photo, Video, Portrait, Night, Pro, Hi-Res, Pano, Slo-Mo, Time-Lapse, Dual-View Video, Underwater, Sticker, and Doc Scanner.

The Pro mode allows for controls of ISO (100-6400), Shutter Speed (1/8000 - 30 secs), EV (+- 3), Focus, and White Balance.

Powering the phone is either a 6,500mAh battery or a 7,000mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging via USB-C. OPPO is promising 5 years of battery durability and promising 0 to 100 percent charge in 60 minutes.

Inside is the  6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G octa-core processor. It is cooled by a 4,300mm2 vapor chamber that should lower surface temperatures by 1.5 °C.

Alongside the processor are the 8GB/12GB LPDDR4X RAM, 256GB/512GB UFS 2.2 internal storage, and it is expandable via microSD through the Hybrid SIM tray.

The phone comes with symmetric stereo speakers, and it supports dual nano SIMs. 

Other features include NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, WiFi 5, 4G, 5G, and stereo speakers.

OPPO A6 Pro 5G web surfing

The new OPPO A6 Pro 5G is looking to compete better in the budget space.

The screen is large and bright, with crisp text. But what caught our attention even more were the near-symmetrical slim bezels. 

OPPO A6 Pro 5G's AnTuTu and GeekBench results

It is made of a brushed metal-like textured frame and glass front and rear panels with a unique rear flower-like design and a solid metal square camera module. Its body is IP66 + IP68 + IP69 dust and water resistant, and MIL-STD-810H certified.

It comes with the Dimensity 6300 5G octa-core processor, vapor chamber cooling, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. 

It scored a respectable 605,158 in AnTuTu as well.

Inside is the massive 6,500mAh battery with 80W fast wired charging that promises a full charge in 60 minutes and 5 years of durability.

At the back are the 50MP main rear camera and a 2MP monochrome camera, while in front is the 16MP selfie camera.

Overall, depending on the price of the phone, it could be competitively spec'd while having premium materials and design.
