OPPO deepens Google AI collaboration—highlights Mind Space on Find X9 Series

Smart device powerhouse OPPO recently announced a deeper collaboration with Google to redefine personalized and secure mobile AI.

The Chinese electronics manufacturer emphasizes that this focus is on delivering personalized AI capabilities, AI model deployment, and AI privacy experiences to its users worldwide.

The main fruit of the collab is the "Mind Space," which is available on the new OPPO Find X9 Series. This is designed to help users capture and organize information more intuitively.

The company explains that "a quick three-finger swipe lets users instantly save on-screen content like text, images, or web pages into a centralized hub. Afterward, Mind Space will 'smartly' organize everything for a streamlined space for ideas and information.

This uses the power of Google Gemini, connected to the app. OPPO said that this allows Gemini to now pull information and help users take action with content from Mind Space, as well as allow users to stay in control always by choosing what Gemini can see and pull from Mind Space.

One example, a user planning a trip can save articles and notes to their Mind Space, then ask Gemini to create a detailed itinerary using the content that has been saved.

Meanwhile, Google Gemini allows users to also chat with Gemini to connect to other OPPO applications, share what's on their screen or camera for help, or edit photos with Gemini's new image editing model, Nano Banana. 

Gemini Live lets users ask about anything they see by sharing their camera or screen—offering visual help for tasks like storage ideas or fixing appliances. Now rolling out, it highlights elements directly on-screen for interactive guidance. For image editing, Gemini introduces Nano Banana, a new model that enables creative photo enhancements with simple prompts.

Security features

OPPO and Google have engineered a solution with user privacy as a core principle, which utilizes the OPPO AI Private Computing Cloud (PCC), which leverages Google Cloud's confidential computing services.

According to the company, this architecture ensures that sensitive data for AI processing is handled in a secure and encrypted environment, making it inaccessible to any third party, including OPPO.

It added that key features such as AI Mind Space, AI Search, AI Call Summary, AI VoiceScribe, AI Recorder, and AI Writer all operate within this secure framework, allowing users to leverage intelligent services with the confidence that their personal data remains private.

Our goal is to provide users with an AI assistant that both truly understands their personal needs and is also worthy of being entrusted with their personal data.

Availability

The full suite of these features debuts on the new global OPPO Find X9 Series and ColorOS 16 on OPPO flagship devices. 

Those who will purchase the Find X9 or Find X9 Pro will receive a complimentary three-month subscription to Google AI Pro, which includes higher access to new and powerful features in Gemini and 2TB of cloud storage.

There is no info yet on whether these new capabilities will also be available on mid-range and entry-level OPPO devices in the future.
