HUAWEI has officially unveiled the Mate 70 Air, a new ultra-thin handset that directly competes with Apple iPhone Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.

The new device boasts a 5.6mm ultra-thin frame featuring a large 6,500mAh battery capacity. Unlike its rivals, HUAWEI demonstrates its engineering design by providing an unusually large battery capacity, all while reducing the thickness of its phone's body.

The handset is available in three color options: Obsidian Black, Feather White, and Silver Brocade. It also features an IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust resistance.

Ultra-thin, big display, and battery

Meanwhile, the phone is also equipped with a 7-inch 1.5K+ OLED display, featuring a resolution of 2760 x 1320, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an 18.8:9 aspect ratio. A 10.7-megapixel front-facing camera is housed in a centered punch-hole cutout.

The Mate 70 Air also features two chipset options and memory configurations. The Kirin 9020B is paired with 12GB of RAM, while the Kirin 9020A is paired with 16GB of RAM.

Its big battery is paired with a USB-C 66W wired fast charging.

The cameras

The rear camera system consists of a quad-camera array. It is led by a 50MP main with a 1/1.3-inch sensor + 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens + 12MP RYYB 3x telephoto camera + 1.5MP red maple multispectral sensor designed to improve color accuracy.

The device includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for unlocking.

Supported connectivity features include WiFi 7+ and two-way Beidou satellite messaging.

The smartphone runs on the HarmonyOS 5.1 operating system.
