Right off the bat, the OPPO Reno15 Pro 5G (PHP 49,999) impressed with its strong camera specs and good actual imaging performance.

To recap, this handset has true flagship-level triple-camera specs featuring a 200MP f/1.8 w/ AF, 2-axis OIS, 50MP f/2.0 116-degree ultra-wide-angle w/ AF, and a 50MP f/2.8 3.5x Telephoto Camera w/ 2-axis OIS. For selfies, it uses a 50MP f/2.0 with a 100-degree wide-angle field of view and AF.

It also has excellent image processing with advanced AI for natural skin tones and sharp details.

BUT, it is more than just that. The OPPO Reno15 Pro 5G features a wide array of advanced AI features designed to elevate your shots and your general content creation game.

AI Motion Photo is fun

AI Motion Photo in action

Basically, it turns ordinary photos into animated, layered images that feel more immersive. It also uses AI to layer multiple frames and create a "pop‑out" effect where the subject appears to move forward from the background.

How to make it work?

• In the camera app, toggle "Motion Photo" on.
• Open the Photo app and select the images you want to collage
• Choose Motion collage and arrange the images the way you like
• Choose a photo to pop out by holding and pressing the image
• Wait for the motion image to process
• Select either "Play once," "Loop," or "Play in order."

Moving Photo

This eliminates the need for apps like CapCut or TikTok 3D GIF tools. So, us the users, can generate motion-enhanced photos directly in the native app quickly and easily.

You can even transform a simple photo into cinematic slow-motion shots that you can show to wow your friends.

We enjoyed using it in our stories and short videos to share our travel, food, and adventure shots, among others.

The AI Eraser is cleaner and better than ever

This feature is not technically new, but it now works even for motion photos. For example, it allows users to remove passers-by or unwanted objects easily.

The background changed a little, but hey, it is now cleaner

Smart lasso lets users remove the object they want and blends seamlessly in the background. Paint over allows users to simply brush unwanted elements in the photo, then the AI fills the area naturally. Remove People simply erase people from the background.

How to make it work?

• In the Photo app, select the image you want
• Select edit and go to the "AI Editor"
• Next, select AI Eraser. Then, select either "Smart lasso," "Paint over," or "Remove people"

What I noticed is that it now works more accurately and naturally than ever.

A good quality AI Eraser

We enjoyed using the AI Eraser during our Taiwan trip as it seamlessly removed people from crowded tourist spots, making it look like we had the place to ourselves.

Professional "studio-like" Portrait lighting anywhere

AI Portrait Glow

The OPPO Reno15 also has the AI Portrait Glow. This feature basically enhances your Portrait snaps, which could be useful in tricky lighting conditions, such as low light, backlight, or harsh overhead light, by intelligently adjusting illumination on the subject's face.

How to make it work?

• Open the Photo app, select the image of your choice
• Select edit and go to the "AI Editor"
• Press AI Portrait Glow and wait
• Adjust the strength of the flashlight to your liking

I enjoyed using it for shots where I wanted a professional-looking portrait, nearly anywhere.

to enhance portrait shots taken in tricky lighting conditions—like low light, backlight, or harsh overhead light—by intelligently adjusting illumination on the subject's face.

Apart from these, the OPPO Reno15 Pro also has other great AI tools like the AI Recompose to help users frame shots better, and AI Perfect Shot ensures group and portrait photos look their best by fixing facial expressions.

From blurry to clearer shots

I also used the AI Enhance clarity + AI Unblur combined to make images more detailed, as well as AI Remove reflections for removing reflections and glare.

The AI Remove reflection was particularly very useful in our visit to Taipei Zoo to take photos of the animals inside glass cages.

The new OPPO Reno15 Pro 5G is also one of the few phones with the ability to record at 4K 60fps both at the back and front at all focal points, from wide, ultra-wide, and zoom.

AND, it is more than just the numbers on paper. Actual quality for both the back and front cameras is some of the best, if not the best, for the price.

The clips we took are generally great with vibrant colors and plenty of details. Unlike other mid-range cameras we tested, rear video recording is smooth and does not stutter, especially when panning left, right, up, or down. It can even focus on close-up subjects, and the zoom quality for videos is decent up to 7x.

The secret weapon is the Ultra Steady. This has one of the best video stabilizations around. 

Even for the selfie videos without OIS, the Ultra Steady works and can really minimize the shake. The crop is also minimal, allowing users to fit more people in the frame.

While it won't be as good as the back cameras, this is better than nearly all the selfie cams for videos found on mid-range phones we tested.

There are even times when I use it at work (GIZGUIDE content creation) to showcase the products we are testing.

Bonus: Even the microphone quality is great, even if you don't have an external microphone.
