New REDMI Note series launching soon

According to REDMI, the Note 17 series follows an "upgrade without a price tier jump" strategy intended to preserve value in the mid-range segment amid rising component costs.

The company noted that features once common in affordable phones, such as robust waterproofing and reinforced protective glass, have become less frequent industry-wide, and said the new series is intended to reintroduce them.

Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing added that increased memory prices have made it more difficult to produce feature-rich budget devices.

Official images show a redesigned rear panel with flat sides and a rectangular camera module in the top-left corner. The first confirmed color option for the Redmi Note 17 Pro, Sky Blue, uses a finish inspired by a blue sky and white clouds rather than a conventional solid or gradient design. A purple variant said to be inspired by a starry night sky is also expected.

Reports indicate Redmi will release only the standard Note 17 and Note 17 Pro, omitting the Pro+ model that has featured in previous generations.

The standard Note 17 is rumored to include a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, a 1.5K OLED display, a 9,000mAh battery, a 50MP main camera, stereo speakers, and enhanced dust and water resistance.

The Note 17 Pro is reportedly switching to a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 processor and will feature a larger 10,000mAh battery. Other rumored specifications include a 1.5K display and a 200MP main camera, along with improved drop resistance and waterproofing.

REDMI states that the Note series has surpassed 500 million units in global sales over the past 12 years and positions the Note 17 series as a continuation of that track record with updates to display quality, battery life, and durability.
