Cebu goes cashless: Government services now on GCash

Cebu x GCash

Governor Pamela Baricuatro and G-Xchange, Inc. Head of B2B Sales Cleo Celeste Santos led the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, a key milestone in Cebu's digital transformation journey.

Through this collaboration, residents can now settle government-related payments via the GCash app under the Bills Pay service.

GCash announced that the Scan-to-Pay (STP) implementation is also underway.

Meanwhile, future disbursement services are also being explored to further streamline transactions.

According to the company, the initiative aims to reduce travel and long queues for residents, particularly in rural and island communities, by offering secure and convenient digital alternatives.

Governor Baricuatro highlighted the importance of digitalization in improving service delivery, noting that the partnership makes public services more efficient and responsive to Cebuano needs.

The program is expected to benefit thousands of residents, including those connected to provincial electricity and water services in Malapascua, Moalboal, and Carmen.

Basically, Cebu Gov't and GCash boost accessibility and financial inclusion, bringing digital payments to underserved communities.
