ICYMI: Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds launched with 24-bit output, and IPX4 rating

After a decade, Bose has introduced a pair of wired earbuds with active noise cancellation (ANC).

It's about time to go back to wired earphones?

As the main highlight, the Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds connect via USB-C and offer active noise cancellation and an IPX4 water-resistance rating.

To make that possible, the earbuds use an internal, proprietary digital signal processor (DSP) intended to ensure compatibility with most USB-C ports. Regardless of the source, they output a fixed 24-bit signal, according to the company.

Wired connection

The earbuds use an in-ear design with silicone eartips to create a secure seal. Its stability wings help keep them in place, similar to those on the Bose SoundSport In-Ear Headphones.

Another main feature is Bose's QuietControl technology, which reduces unwanted background noise during playback.

Bose mentioned that the noise cancellation draws power from the connected device, whether a phone, tablet, laptop or handheld.

The package

An in-line remote with a built-in microphone lets users switch between three modes: Quiet, Aware and ANC-off. It also includes controls for volume, playback and calls.

With an IPX4 rating, the earbuds are protected against splashes and sweat but are not designed to be submerged in water.
