New flagship series from HUAWEI

The Mate 90 comes in four colors: Crystal Green, Crystal Pink, Zero White, and Obsidian Black. The green and pink versions feature Huawei's lattice-pattern rear design, while the other two colors use a simpler finish.

For build quality and durability, HUAWEI updated it with 3rd-gen Kunlun glass and nylon fiber, offering 50% better drop resistance than the Mate 80 Series.

It also has IP68/69 dust and water resistance for high-temperature and high-pressure water jets, plus protection against dirt and dust.

In front, the phone has a 6.75-inch flat OLED screen with 2832 x 1280 resolution, 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, and a 300Hz touch sampling rate.

The Mate 90 is powered by the Kirin 9030 chip. HUAWEI says it supports hardware ray tracing at up to 31 million rays per second.

The brand also demonstrated the feature in Wuthering Waves, though it works only in certain scenes. The company also claims its FFRT scheduling system can double image loading speeds.

It also carries HUAWEI' s 3rd-gen Red Maple primary-color camera, which the company says improves color accuracy by 37%.

HUAWEI's XMAGE assistant can also suggest shooting options. In photo and portrait modes, within the 4x zoom range, it can recommend one of 13 group poses or one of 14 composition layouts, although the composition suggestions must be enabled manually.

A live-streaming mode lets users start a stream with a single tap. It enables do-not-disturb and network acceleration, and uses face and product recognition to shift focus between subjects.

For security, the Mate 90 has a Mobile Security Processor that supports post-quantum cryptography for unlocking and payments.

Connectivity features are WiFi, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, NFC, and dual SIM.

The phone comes pre-installed with HarmonyOS 7. It can also connect with an iPhone for features such as call forwarding, file transfers, and message notifications.
