A gamepad that easily fits your bag

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Nano Controller, a compact gamepad designed for younger players, people with smaller hands, and anyone who wants a portable option.

At just over 5 inches long and 3.5 ounces, the Nano gamepad is Microsoft's smallest controller, and the company says it is lighter and shorter than most modern smartphones. It includes all 18 standard gameplay inputs and keeps the familiar Xbox controller layout.

It also has a rechargeable battery and a programmable Action Button that can be set for functions such as screenshots and gameplay capture. Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth support allow it to connect to a range of compatible devices.

Microsoft made the controller for family and on-the-go play, citing titles such as Minecraft Dungeons II, which supports up to four players in local or online co-op, and Forza Horizon 6.

Pre-orders open today, with availability starting in November in 36 markets across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, including the US, UK, Canada, Japan, and Australia.

Microsoft said more markets will follow, and pricing and availability vary by country. In the US, it is also offering holiday bundles that pair the controller with two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new members who buy select Samsung TVs or a Meta Quest. On Samsung TVs, the Xbox app in the built-in Gaming Hub lets players in select regions use their monthly cloud playtime to access hundreds of Game Pass titles.
