In particular, the agency secured 172,654 Apple MacBook Neo laptops for public school teachers and administrative staff nationwide through its latest computerization project.
MacBook Neos procured below retail with a longer 5-year warranty
The announcement also reveals a notable detail: DepEd was able to procure each MacBook Neo for around PHP 43,000, roughly PHP 6,900 below the device's suggested retail price in the Philippines, while also securing a five-year warranty for every unit.
The Department said the procurement is part of its broader effort to improve digital learning tools for educators.
The deal even caught the attention of Apple. During Apple's fourth-quarter 2026 earnings call, John Ternus, CEO of Apple, highlighted the agreement with DepEd and described it as the company's biggest education deal ever for Mac.
For the longest time, our teachers have carried the heavy personal burden of buying their own laptops or maintaining outdated equipment just to keep up with lesson plans. Under the vision of President Marcos, we are changing the narrative, Angara said.
We welcome Apple's participation in this procurement to bring MacBook Neo to our teachers. It isn't just about handing out world-class hardware with five-year warranties; it's about giving our educators the best tools, backed by robust training so they can focus on what matters most: teaching our children.
I'm feeling great about the opportunities ahead for Apple, from our product roadmap and broad range of services to promising areas like health, emerging markets, enterprise, and education, said Ternus.
Under the DepEd Computerization Program, the department has so far awarded contracts covering 231,725 laptops, consisting of 169,008 MacBook Neo units, 62,717 Windows-based laptops, and an additional 3,646 MacBook Neo units for administrative officers.
DepEd MacBook Neo overall value proposition
In addition to the lower procurement price, the package comes with a five-year warranty, a first for DepEd laptop purchases and significantly longer than the standard one-year retail coverage.
It also includes built-in productivity software, logistics and delivery services, as well as professional development programs for recipients.

To help teachers maximize the devices, DepEd is also working with Apple on GuroXL, a co-developed training framework that aims to equip educators with Apple Teacher Certifications and other technology leadership credentials through the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP).
Starting this November, DepEd and Apple will begin distributing 172,654 MacBook Neo laptops across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, with deployment scheduled through March 2027 and accompanied by teacher unboxing activities.
