Lenovo Vibe S1 Impressions, The First Smartphone With Dual Camera Setup!

Earlier, Lenovo Mobile Philippines introduced 3 new Vibe smartphones. One of them called the Lenovo Vibe S1 caught most of my attention as it boast one unique feature that's never before seen in a smartphone, a dual selfie camera setup.

Build Quality / Design

Aesthetically, the Vibe S1 feels just okay. It features decent build quality with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on both front and back. The frame of the device is made out of rounded metal frame with curved backed design that feels great to hold even with 1 handed use. What I like there is the device doesn't feel heavy at all at just 132 grams.

Camera

Clearly, the Vibe S1 by Lenovo is a camera centric smartphone. It boast a pretty capable 13 MP sensor with phase detection auto - focus. From what we saw earlier, it was able to take great shots with good accuracy and details. The focus is also lightning fast thanks to its phase detection AF sensor embedded.

But, that's not the main highlight of this smartphone. The Lenovo Vibe S1 is arguably the very first smartphone in the world to boast two cameras in front. The first sensor is an 8 MP snapper while the second camera is a 2 MP depth camera. It works just like the dual rear camera setup Honor 6 Plus that lets you refocus add blur and several effects to your subject even after taking the photo. This type of technology also lets you add more light compared with single camera sensors and will give you better depth of field.

You can even adjust the blur, beautification and change background! :)

For me what's missing with the features of its front camera is the lack of selfie flash unlike most of the modern selfie centric phones.

As of the moment

I like most of the things I saw with this smartphone. It packs powerful specs that even most gamers would love, good rear camera and a potentially great selfie camera. Some may say that it's priced a bit high at 15,999 Pesos, but if you wanted to get a great phone with top notch selfie quality this might be a fantastic buy.
