Here's what happened at the Philippine Retail Summit 2018

The first Philippine Retail Summit organized by retail associates was held at the SMX Convention Center at the SM Aura Premier.

The summit carried the theme of "Retail Globalization" that aims to shape the local retail industry through a gathering of public and private sector leaders, who shared their insights on the amendments and opportunities for local retail businesses.

It focused on the discussions about how Filipino retailers can remain successful despite the global brand market competition. Opportunities for local businesses to expand internationally and the amendments in policies concerning entry of foreign retailers were highlighted in the summit.

Over 200 retailers across the country joined the event. Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri's kenote speech about the retail globalization, its threats and opportunities for the Philippines, followed after Retail Associates President and CEO Bo Lundqvist's welcome remarks.

DTI Regional Operations Group Usec. Zenaida Maglay shared on the summit about the Philippine economy as a growth catalyst for the retail sector.

IKEA's Market Development Manager George Platzer also joined the summit to share his personal practical knowledge to the retailers to understand and know how to achieve global retail excellence.
