An intelligent beast?

The highlights

Edge-to-edge screen design
Edge-to-edge screen design

The first thing you will notice with the Honor Magic 2 is the design. It sports a full screen design with a slider ala OPPO Find X. But, Honor claimed that it is an anti-dust type slider unlike the slider found on the Find X and Mi MIX 3. It even has IPX2 water-protection.

It has a 6.93-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080) 19:5:9 AMOLED screen with "almost 100 percent" of screen-to-body ratio according to the company.

It even has an In-Display fingerprint reader with large 32.48 coverage.

Under the hood, the brain of this phone is a 7nm SoC, the Kirin 980 octa-core processor with Mali-G76 MP10 GPU and Dual-NPU. It is arguably the most powerful processor found on Android today. It should go toe-to-toe with the Mate 20 series of Huawei, their parent company.

It also has a 3,500mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge technology. The company claimed that it can charge the phone from 0 to 50 percent in 15 minutes and 0 to 85 percent in just 30 minutes via USB Type-C.

There is also a "3D Photosensitive Edition"
with 3D Biosensing tech for better security and the same graphene heat dissipation found on the Mate 20 Pro.

Triple-camera setup at the back, triple-camera setup in front

6 cameras in total!
6 cameras in total!

This handset is also the very first phone we know with 6 cameras in total. It has 3 cameras at the back and 3 more cameras in front.

At the back, it has a 16MP f/1.6 primary shooter paired with a 24MP f/1.8 monochrome sensor and a 16MP f/2.2 super wide-angle lens. It also has AIS for intelligent stabilization and LED flash.

For selfies, you will find a 16MP f/2.0 primary camera with 2x 2MP f/2.4 cameras for 3D face unlock. It also has the
3D Qmoji feature ala Apple Animoji.

YOYO assistant

The Honor Magic 2 runs with Android 9.0 Pie OS with EMUI 9.0 skin on the top. The new feature is the YOYO assistant. Honor boasts that it is an "all-in-one smart-living enabler possessed with mind-reading and machine-learning capabilities."

So, it has mind-reading capabilities. But, we do not really know how it works in real life. Let's see.

The rest of the features

You will find most of the common specs found on other flagship devices with the Magic 2. It has 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB storage, 1.7Gbps WiFi, dual 4G LTE dual-frequency GPS, NFC, and dual SIM slots.

The phone will come in gradient black gradient red, and gradient blue colors.
