Distribution of relief goods

As telco services were limited in some areas of Eastern Visayas after Usman hit the region last month, PLDT’s wireles arm has set up free calls in the municipalities of Bansud, Pinamalayan and Socorro in Oriental Mindoro, and Bulan in Sorsogon.

The unit also provided a mobile kitchen in municipalities badly affected by the tropical depression, Sagnay and Buhi in Camarines Sur, and Tiwi and Libon in Albay—where around 4,800 residents and 4,500 beneficiaries received hot meals and food packs, respectively.

For the mobile kitchen, Smart worked hand in hand with PLDT, PLDT-Smart Foundation, Alagang Kapatid Foundation, One Meralco Foundation, Maynilad, Makati Medical Center Foundation, Philex Mining Corp., Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Latter Day Saints Charities and Kabalikat Albay and Camarines Sur chapters.

We offer not only communications assistance, but also help provide with the basic needs of residents in the affected areas as they work on rebuilding their lives after calamities, said Smart public affairs head Ramon R. Isberto

These efforts are part of our commitment to help fulfill the needs and uplift the quality of life of every Filipino, Isberto added.

Smart also led the distribution of relief goods in Albay and Camarines Sur, Bansud, Pola and Socorro towns in Oriental Mindoro.
