Xiaomi released the Black Shark 2 right on schedule in China. It's the much awaited successor of the Black Shark gaming phone last year.

Black Shark 2 has an upgraded design, specs, and more features versus its predecessor. It comes with an X-style antenna design for better signal reception, RGB logo at the back, and a liquid cooling 3.0 technology.

Black Shark 2 highlights

Liquid cooling 3.0 is a tower-wide global liquid cooling system that uses liquid-cooled plate and liquid-cooled tuned. Blackshark claimed that it can reduce the temperature of the CPU core by up to 14 degrees Celsius. It is 2 percent better than the than the 12 percent last year.

In front, it goes with a big 6.39-inch panel with 19:5:9 screen aspect ratio and FHD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution. The display also highlights a "hidden" press sensitive controls and an In-Display fingerprint scanning tech.

Inside, it is powered by the 7nm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor with up to 2.84GHz clock speed and Adreno 640 GPU.

It also goes with 6GB/8GB/12GB LPDDR4x RAM, 128GB/256GB UFS 2.1 storage, and 4,000mAh battery with USB-C charging.

The 4,000mAh battery could be charged using a 27W fast charger. Black Shark claimed that 5 minutes of charge is equals to 30 minutes of gaming.

On the camera part, it features a 48MP f/1.75 Sony IMX586 primary camera and 12MP Samsung S5K3M5 2x lossless telephoto lens at the back. For selfies, you will see 20MP f/2.0 snapper.

As expected, the gaming machined features WiFi 802.11ac, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5, GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou.

The phone runs with Android 9.0 Pie OS out of the box. It measures at 163.61 x 75.01 x 8.77 mm and weighs at 205 grams.

It comes in shadow black, frozen silver, and mirage blue color options.

Price starts at CNY 3,199 (around PHP 25.1K) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB variant. It could go as high as CNY 4,199 (around PHP 32.9K) for the top-end 12GB RAM/256GB ROM model.

We are unsure yet if there will be a global rollout.
