Xiaomi's Amazfit announces two new smartwatches!

Xiaomi subsidiary Huami Technologies has just announced the Amazfit Smart Watch 2 and the Amazfit Health Watch in China.

Two new smartwatches that focus on health from Amazfit

Amazfit Watch 2

First of the two smatwatches is the Amazfit Smart Watch 2 with a 1.39-inch AMOLED touch display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 with a large 4GB RAM. It also supports 4G VoLTE eSIM.

It is running on the AMAZFIT OS that supports Android 4.4 and above or iOS10.0 and above. It features location tracking via GPS/GLONASS and features activity and sleep monitoring because of its multiple sensors made up the following: BioTracker PPG sensor, ECG monitor (ECG Edition only), Accelerometer, Geomagnetic sensor and Ambient light sensor. The device is IP 68 rated and connects to your other devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2.

Lastly, it is powered by a 420mAh li-po battery that promises 28 hours of battery life with 4G LTE connection.

Amazfit Health Watch

Next up is the Amazfit Health Watch that supports Low-Power BioTracker PPG sensor that tracks arrhythmia in the heart along with the ECG sensor that measures ECGs in 60 seconds and stores 60 of these ECG data locally. It features the narrowband network technology or NB-IoT that doesn't require the watch to connect to your phone to report a real time health emergency.

In front is the 1.28-inch color display with tempered glass protection that connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0. The body is water resistant for up to 30 meters and features a 200mAh battery that promises 7 days of battery life.

Price and availability

Amazfit Smart Watch 2 start at CNY 999 (around PHP 7.5K) for the standard edition while the ECG edition costs CNY 1299 (around PHP 11K).

Amazfit Health Watch starts at CNY 699 (around PHP 5K).

Both will be available in China within the month.

There is no word yet on pricing and availability in the Philippines. We will update this article once the information becomes available.
