Huawei Kirin 990 chip with 5G is coming, to launch on September 6!

Two weeks before the IFA Berlin event, Huawei just confirmed that the Kirin 990 will go official on September 6!

Huawei Kirin 990 chip with 5G is coming

In a teaser video, Huawei confirmed that it will come with 5G connectivity. It also suggests that it might come with a built-in 5G modem.

Currently, all 5G compatible chips need a separate 5G modem to make 5G work.

Previous reports said that Kirin 990 will be produced under TSMC's new 7nm EUV process which provides 20 percent greater transistor density and in turn increased power efficiency.

We can expect it feature ARM's latest CPU and GPU paired with a new-gen NPU. Most likely, it will be based on the company's DaVinci architecture but greater than what Kirin 810 has.

Other than that we do not know the rest of the missing details yet.

There's a good chance that we will see the new chip to debut with the rumored Mate 30 flagship phones.
