IFA 2019: HMD Global announces Nokia 6.2, 7.2

Finnish firm HMD Global boosted its mid-range smartphone segment with the official launch of Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2.

At the IFA tech fair in Berlin, the company unveiled the newest smartphones under the Nokia brand, boasting almost similar specifications. 

Both the Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2 will have waterdrop-style notches and curved edges. 

HMD Global opted to house the triple image sensors as well as the LED flash in a circular camera module at the back. The fingerprint sensor, meanwhile, also resides at the rear. 

They run on Android 9 Pie, and inside the devices are 3,500 mAh battery capacity. 

The Nokia 6.2 flaunts a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with HDR10 support, Gorilla Glass 3, and 500nits brightness. The handset is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, paired with up to 4GB of RAM.

In terms of its optics, the Nokia 6.2 has triple rear camera setup composed of a 16-megapixel primary shooter with f/1.8 aperture, a 5-megapixel depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture. For its selfie shooter, it has an 8-megapixel f/2.0 camera. 

The Nokia 7.2, on the other hand, has a 6.3-inch full-HHD+ display. And just like the Nokia 6.2, it has HDR10 support and Gorilla Glass 3 and 500nits brightness. 

For its rear cameras, the device offers a 48-megapixel primary shooter with f/1.79 aperture, 5-megapixel depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture. There is a 20-megapixel f/2.0 for the front camera as well.

The Nokia 7.2 is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage with a microSD card slot. 

HMD Global said the Nokia 6.2 will have a starting price tag of EUR 199 and be out in the Europe market by October. The Nokia 7.2, meanwhile, will be available in the market this month, starting at EUR 249. 

The Nokia 6.2 will be offered in Ceramic Black and Ice colours, while the Nokia 7.2 will be in Cyan Green, Charcoal, and Ice colours.
