IFA 2019: Sony Xperia 5 compact flagship revealed!

At the IFA 2019 in Berlin, Sony unleashed the Xperia 5, the company's newest flagship smartphone.

A compact flagship?

Sony Xperia 5 sports a compact IP68 water-resistant body and a 6.1-inch OLED FHD+ 2250 x 1080 21:9 CinemaWide display with HDR support and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Inside, it runs with the 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with Adreno 640 GPU, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, expandable microSD memory slot up to 512GB, and 3,140mAh battery with USB-C PD fast charging support.

At the back, it goes with a triple-camera setup consisting of a 12MP f/1.6 primary camera paired with a 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto sensor. It also has OIS and EIS for stabilization. For selfies, there's an 8MP f/2.0 snapper. 

The phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0 w/ aptX, dual SIM slots, and Android 9 Pie operating system.

It measures at 158 x 68 x 8.2 mm and weighs 164 grams. It goes in black, blue, grey and red colorways.

The new Sony Xperia 5 will be available for pre-order next week in select markets across Europe. It will be available starting in October 2019.
